Pancakes

Ms. Corcoran's boys were first out of the traps for the pancakes this year. They've invented a new day named "Pancake Monday".

Valentines

Almost forget about Valentine's Day with the Jubilee celebrations . . but not quite. Mr Gough's boys were busy making fridge magnets for their loved ones! The designs were planned in advance and they turned out excellently.

IRISH MINOR SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS

© St. Pius X BNS

It was a cold morning as we drove to the National Aquatic Centre. The girls warm-up was first, followed by the boys. The first event for the boys was the 11-12 yr 100m in which Conor K and Ronan T participated. Both performed extremely well against stiff competition from the four provinces. . .

Credit Union Quiz Team Runners-Up

Our quiz teams enjoyed a wonderful evening hosted by Rathfarnham Credit Union on Friday last. After four rounds of questions both of our teams were joint leaders. All the local schools were present and the standard was really high. Well done to our Under 11 team who failed to qualify for the next round by just a single point: Rory, Charlie, Darragh and John-Patrick.
Many thanks to Al McCauley and his team for making us feel most welcome and to the Credit Union for its investment of time and resources in this super event.

If you fancy pitting your wits against our junior team, try to beat their score of 52.

St. Brigid's Day

There was great banter in Mr. Gough's class as they wrestled with rushes (freshly cut from the banks of the River Boyne on Saturday morning) to create crosses. They found it very tricky and difficult but it was great fun and they all managed to make a cross in the end.

Mr. Dillon's Boys Building Bridges

The mission was to construct a sturdy bridge at least 30cm long that would take a car and hold a weight of up to 500g. Any materials could be used but preference should be given to recyclables.
As you can see, the variety of styles was most impressive, as was the range of names: Silvergate, JALL (James, Alan, Leo and Luke), Yellow Brick Bridge and many more.

St. Bridget's Day in St. Pius

© St. Pius X BNS

Mr Smyth's boys were just one of the classes that continued the tradition of making St Bridget's crosses in St Pius X this week. After their hard work on Monday the boys visited the church on Tuesday and had their crosses blessed as well as their throats for the Feast of St Blaise. Here are their crosses made with Mr Smyth's very own Galway rushes.
