Strength by Lucas Weber
Stronger than a terrible stench,
Stronger than a fist in clench,
Stronger than the ache of pain,
As great, as good, as Einstein’s brain,
Stronger than my little brother is loud,
Stronger than a lion is proud,
Stronger than a dog fighting for a bone,
As loud, as annoying as a baby’s moan,
Stronger than a riled crowd,
Stronger than a bow when bowed,
Stronger than a cloud is white,
As strong, as determined as Taylor up for a fight,
Stronger than a car is fast,
Stronger than a thunder blast,
Stronger than Usain runs far,
That’s how strong oxen are!
Football Blitz
Congratulations to our footballers on their amazing performance at the inaugural Terenure College Blitz that took place on Tuesday. Two teams were selected to take part from our 5 Cumann na mBunscol panels. Incredibly both teams walked away with the winning trophies! This competition saw teams from all over the locality take part in 20 minute games. Huge thanks to Dave Farrelly (our schools GPO) and Philip Wallace (Deputy Principal of Terenure) for all their work in organising such an enjoyable day of football. Here's hoping that the results bode well for our Cumann na mBunscol competitions in the Autumn!

Each year St. Pius B.N.S and St. Pius G.N.S compete . . .
. . . in a once in a year competition in The Castle golf club. Each team has 4 players on each team including one sub if needs be. After weeks of practising in the Spawell/driving range Mr. Ryan finally picked the golf teams. Myself, Daniel, Cormac and Oisín made the first 4 and Hugo was the sub. It was a lovely day to play golf. Sun shining what more could I ask for. Girls played the front 9 and the boys played the back 9 . Overall St. Pius did very well. We all got medals had some delicious food (and definitely enjoyed missing school). Anyway back to the golf long story short Hollypark won the boys' competition and Mount Anville won the girls' competition. We also got to meet Shane Lowry (a professional golfer) and had a great time . It was a great experience.

. . . . I saw Mr.Ryan. Soon the rest of the team arrived.Mr. Ryan gave me a sticker which said 17b. Soon a girl put up a sign saying 17b . I went with her to the 17th tee . I took my shot 2nd . I hit it straight down the fairway. I played a few shots into the hole and got a bogey for a few holes. I got bogeys and pars. At the 10th hole I hit the green and got my birdie putt. Then my last hole par5 sixteenth I birdied it. I had 21 points all together. I then went to see the pros show us tricks. Then I went inside. Sadly I couldn’t stay for the presentation but all in all it was a great day. Oisin

. . . said hello Mr Ryan and put my bags in the locker room. Afterwards I practised my putting and set out for the eighteenth hole. Let’s just say I didn’t do too well on the course. The Castle’s Course is beautiful but hard. I liked the par-3s because they are so unique. When we were finished we had a lunch in the club and watched the prize giving. I didn’t play so well but it was overall a good day. I’d like to say thanks to Mr. Ryan and anyone who helped out in the golf practices I would also like to thank the Castle Golf Club for hosting the event. Cormac
Every year St Pius X BNS enters . . .

. . . the School’s Castle Cup. This is a golf tournament held in the Castle Golf Club. This year I had the privilege of competing in this tournament. Hollypark National School won the boys' tournament. The winners of the girls' tournament was Mount Anville. It was a privilege playing in such a fine golf club such as the Castle. I’d like to thank Mr. Ryan for the day along with the Castle Golf Club. It was a great day!

Choir Party
Our fabulous choir enjoyed some well-earned pizzas and other goodies at their party on Monday to celebrate the end of a terrific season. Their performances during the year included both First Holy Communion and Confirmation ceremonies, Christmas concerts, opening of the academic year Mass and of course participation in Seussical Jr.
Wicklow Way Walk
Another glorious and fun-filled day in the Pius Wicklow Way saga. Be sure to join us next year.
Silvers in Santry
Jonas and Sean brought silver medals home to St. Pius after wonderful performances in Santry. Jonas jumped 4.04m in the long jump and was only a few centimetres short of gold. Sean was a short head shy of his rival for gold in the 600m. Cuán and John were among our other representatives in Santry.

After reading instructional text about making a cheesecake these lads decided it would be a good idea to make one! After they enjoyed some of their own baking they kindly shared some with their teachers. Needless to remark, the lovely smell wafted towards Mr. Lynch's office and he had to come along to do some quality control!!
