Skiing is one of the most well known winter sports. It began around 7 centuries ago and was used as a transport named travelling over snow.
In Norway and Sweden and countries alike long skies were made to carry items from one town to another.The Swedish army was also trained to use skies in war and during that time the first ski competions were held.


Types Of Skiing

There a few types of skiing that athletes use.1.Alpine skiing usually takes place on steep hills where flags are often put out to guide the skiers which turns they should take.2.Cross-country races are on much flatter land where the athletes have to use a lot of energy push them across using a special skiing technique.3.Freestyle skiing is a very difficult one where moguls and ramps are put out to challenge the skiers.
In 1936 alpine skiing was first introduced to the OLympics. Franz Pfnur was the first to receive the gold medal.
