Introduction to swimming

Competitive swimming in Britain started around 1830, mostly using breaststroke. Swimming was part of the first modern Olympic games in 1896 in Athens. In 1908, the world swimming association, Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA), was formed.

Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps is one of the worlds best swimmers. He was born June 30th 1985. His best stroke is butterfly. He won 28 gold medals in the Olympics. 23 gold 3 Silver and 2 bronze. Michael Phelps said that the 2012 Olympics was his last Olympics and then a few months before the 2016 summer Olympics he said to his coach I want to do the 2016 Olympics for one more year and I want to get gold in the 200 butterfly.
