For the last number of years St. Pius X BNS has taken part in the FAI schools 5 a-side and 11 a-side competitions, competing against schools all over Dublin. The school enjoys a strong link with Larkview FC, and we use their facilities for training and matches. There is a huge interest in soccer in the school and dedicated teachers give up their time voluntarily to foster an interest in the boys.
As well as competing in the FAI 5 a-side blitz and 11 a-side league, the school runs an in-house soccer competition. Played in the mornings before school, boys get to work on their skills and compete against their friends.
In the last term, boys in the senior end also get the opportunity to compete in the PA organised Heather Cup which takes place in Terenure College.
This year, our fourth classes completed a 6 week soccer programme with Klasskickz Academy. New football skills were developed and plenty of games were used to build confidence playing soccer. The boys really enjoyed it – thanks to Coach Cian! The new skills that the boys learned are continued being practiced through the FAI 5 a-side and 11 a-side competitions and the 
Heather Cup.
