February 1st marked the beginning of the Chinese New Year…  2022 being ‘The Year of the Tiger’. This was the theme for Mr. Réamonn’s mind-bending monthly challenge for January. The boys were set a Wordsmiths challenge and tasked with identifying pairs of animals whose names were jumbled together. The winners selected from the 174 entries this month were Sam from Mr.

Our Aistear theme ‘African Market’ was so much fun. Through play, we learned so much about Africa. From animals, to food, to traditional ndebele art and jewellery. We set up a classroom African market where we role played buying and selling fruit, veg, jewellery and crafts. We even got to make smoothies using tropical fruit.

Daniel from Ms. Crosbie’s Class has put together a project to showcase all the reasons why Man United is ‘The best team in English football’! Daniel has been busy presenting his project at school and trying his best to convert as many Liverpool supporters as possible! A big thank you to Ms. Herity for all her help!

Meet Senan and Harry. Our two talented students in Mr. Dillon’s 4th class. Mr. Coyle commissioned Senan to paint a picture for the school using oil paints and Harry sketched an incredible picture of a lion. Both pieces of artwork will hang on the walls of St. Pius X for ever more.

Our partner hurling club, Faughs Gaa club is resuming their nursery/academy for boys in Junior and Senior infants tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6.00pm up in the clubhouse astro. In term 1, the boys in Senior Infants got the opportunity to start hurling with weekly sessions with club GPO Tommy. Our Junior infant boys will be starting their hurling experience this term

Sam in Mr. Gough’s class was busy over the weekend designing and building a new house using cardboard and creativity. He is starting phase 2 of the development this week with a hipster garden being built. He had heard there was a shortage of houses in Dublin at the minute. Keep an eye out on Daft as he is hoping

Ms Gallagher’s boys brought in their favourite teddys and had a super fun filled day last Friday. They serenaded their teddys with our amhráin gaeilge ‘Teidí Beag Alainn’, had a picnic, wrote about our teddys and even brought them out to the secret garden!! What a day!

Our 5th and 6th class footballers are back training hard in preparations for the upcoming Cumann na mBunscol leagues which begin in February. Over 30 boys from 6th and 30th boys from 5th trained on pitches in Terenure College. Under the guidance of over 10 teachers, we have three teams entered to ensure that everyone will get a game. For
