The boys in Ms Pleamonn’s 3rd class were celebrating Chinese New Year last year. 2022 is the year of the tiger. The boys worked collaboratively to create dragons. A symbol of wisdom, power and good fortune in Chinese culture.

Boys across the school celebrated St. Brigid’s day yesterday by recounting the stories about her life as well as looking at some of the traditions she inspired. February 1st marked the beginning of the Chinese New Year…  2022 being ‘The Year of the Tiger’. This was the theme for Mr. Réamonn’s mind-bending monthly challenge for January. The boys were set a Wordsmiths challenge and tasked with identifying pairs of animals whose names were jumbled together. The winners selected from the 174 entries this month were Sam from Mr.

Our Aistear theme ‘African Market’ was so much fun. Through play, we learned so much about Africa. From animals, to food, to traditional ndebele art and jewellery. We set up a classroom African market where we role played buying and selling fruit, veg, jewellery and crafts. We even got to make smoothies using tropical fruit.

Meet Senan and Harry. Our two talented students in Mr. Dillon’s 4th class. Mr. Coyle commissioned Senan to paint a picture for the school using oil paints and Harry sketched an incredible picture of a lion. Both pieces of artwork will hang on the walls of St. Pius X for ever more.
