Shay and Christian from Ms.Brogan’s first class brought in their medal haul from their recent Karate and Ju Jitsu competitions. Shay was 4-0 down in his competition but managed to come back and win 6-4. Christian was down by 7-o and through his hard training and skill he came back to record an 8-7 win. Well done boys! 🙂

The boys in 6th class have started their preparation for the Castle Cup, working with the John the Pro in the Spawell. On Friday, all the boys from 3rd to 6th made the short walk down to Terenure College for their annual interschools Cross Country races. There was a huge turnout from the local schools with over 1000 boys and girls participating. The weather was cold and dry, ideal for the budding athletes. There was success too for a number of boys

The boys in 6th class have been participating in a morning soccer league which has run from Halloween. Unfortunately the final of the league had to be postponed before Christmas due to the freezing weather and then lack of light. The final, between St. Patrick’s Athletic and Sligo Rovers took place last week and after a thrilling affair, it ended

Sean from Mr.Curtin’s 4th class had a successful weekend at a karate competition in Ashbourne Co.Meath. Talking with Ms.Goddard he explained a collection of movements he used called ‘Kata’ and ‘Heian Shodan’. This helped him to get the bronze medal in his catagory. He also mentioned that his sister got gold. Well done Seán 🙂

Last week in Ms.Dunnes 2nd class we were learning about the blizzard of 1947 and Dillon brought in a newspaper from that year. His Nana gave it to him as there is an article about the blizzard in it. Thank you Dillon for bringing it in for us to see 😃

Ms. O’Kelly’s Junior Infants have been watching the weather all week. They made kites and rainclouds to investigate the wind and rain and had lots of fun indoors and outdoors. P.S. Don’t tell Mr. Coyle they were running on the corridors !

Before Christmas, St. Pius X BNS held a battery drive to help recycle old used batteries. The collection was done in collaboration with WEEE Ireland and Laura Lynn. There was an unbelievable amount of batteries collected, 22 boxes which equates to over 50 Kg of batteries. Thanks to all the classes who helped make the collection a success, especially Ms.
