As well as helping the junior classes, the boys in 6th class had a very busy two days making St. Brigid’s crosses. Using good Galway reeds, the boys made their own crosses and brought them to Terenure College to get blessed. Thanks to Fr Eanna for blessing the crosses and welcoming us to mass. Could you crack this puzzle? World Braille Day, on January 4th, is celebrated to honour the birth of Braille’s inventor, Louis Braille. For January’s mind-bending monthly challenge, Mr. Réamonn tasked the boys with a Wordsmiths challenge called ‘Baffling Braille’. The boys were challenged with cracking a secret message using the braille alphabet. Three winners were selected from the boys who figured it out!

Last Friday evening saw the return of the Credit Union Interschool Quiz for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic put a hold on proceedings. Shay and Christian from Ms.Brogan’s first class brought in their medal haul from their recent Karate and Ju Jitsu competitions. Shay was 4-0 down in his competition but managed to come back and win 6-4. Christian was down by 7-o and through his hard training and skill he came back to record an 8-7 win. Well done boys! 🙂

The boys in 6th class have started their preparation for the Castle Cup, working with the John the Pro in the Spawell. On Friday, all the boys from 3rd to 6th made the short walk down to Terenure College for their annual interschools Cross Country races. There was a huge turnout from the local schools with over 1000 boys and girls participating. The weather was cold and dry, ideal for the budding athletes. There was success too for a number of boys
