The Student Council Meet Senator Mary Seery Kearney
On Wednesday 06 December, the Student Councils of St. Pius X Boys and Girls schools met with Senator Mary Seery Kearney for a very special Questions & Answers session. Mary is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has served as a Senator since June 2020, after being nominated by the Taoiseach. The boys and girls had the opportunity to ask many questions during our 45-minute Q&A and proved themselves to be very confident and prepared in their questioning. She talked to the children about how she became interested in politics at such an early age, how she decided upon a career in politics, about her greatest achievements and her biggest challenges. The children also had the opportunity to ask questions on current affairs including the Gardaí, teacher shortages, equality, and the cost-of-living crisis among many others. It was a most informative and enjoyable experience and the student councils of both schools did us proud. We may very well have some future politicians at St. Pius X!
