Thomas in Ms. Pleamonn’s class is a Tayto expert and has been putting his knowledge to good use in making a shoe box project. Thomas got his inspiration from Mr. Dillons 5th Class who completed their projects a couple of weeks ago. When the project was completed, Thomas got to tell his class all about it. Well done Thomas.

The local branch of the Credit Union Quiz took place last Friday evening in St. Colmcille’s SNS in Knocklyon. Mr. Reamonn and the team have been practicing for the last few weeks on their general knowledge as well as completing the weekly Whizz Quiz. Well done to the boys and thanks to Mr. Reamonn for preparing them.

The 3rd class boys have been learning about Vikings for the past few weeks. They travelled back to Viking times on a tour of Dublinia museum in the heart of the old city at Christchurch. It was an amazing opportunity to get a sense of what life was like during Viking and Medieval Dublin.

There is a special bond between Ms O’Neill’s Senior Infants and their “Big Buddies” in Mr Dillon’s 5th. The older boys had been working hard on their ‘Shoe Box Projects’ and the younger friends were delighted to be invited down for a closer look.

The boys in Ms. Stewart’s class had a blast in PE this week as the Magical Ms. Goddard taught them all about gymnastics. As you can see from the pictures, this was no amateur performance but instead a professional masterclass from our Senior Infant boys. Ms. Weeney’s junior infant boys learned all about solids and liquids today. Then they investigated what happens when chocolate is heated. They also accidentally discovered what happens when chocolate gets too hot. Nothing goes to waste in St. Pius X so the boys used their melted chocolate to make chocolate covered marshmallows. Yum!

Adam in 6th class was successful recently in the Dublin U13 Long Jump Championships in the National Sports Campus. With an impressive winning jump of 4.43m, we look forward to Adam taking part in school events in the next few months and hopefully bringing home more medals.
